I chose the name Lilith for all of its connotations -- demonic as well as feminist.

I find it amusing that, from earliest history, those women who were strong enough to defy society, patriarch, or mate were characterized as possessed of demonic power. In my mind, it shows just how terrified of women most men were -- and how clueless they can still be ;)

For men, Lilith is the she-devil, wife- and baby- thief, consort of Lucifer.

For women, she is a goddess-figure, a confirmation that strength and femininity are not mutually exclusive.

I bear the alias Lilith in acknowledgement and acceptance of the dark, mysterious, and raging side of my (usally sunny) self.
