Malaysian Medical Association Donates in kind For Flood Relief Assistance to residents of Kampong Laut Scudai and Kampong Kangkar Tebrau , JB.

The Johor Branch of the Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) is pleased to announce that it has donated 100 mattresses, 100 pillows, 100 bedsheets , 100 pillow covers and 30 gas stoves to the residents of Kampong Laut Scudai and Kampong Kangkar Tebrau , JB. , on behalf of the MMA Foundation.

The MMA (Johor  Branch) had chosen to make the donations to the residents  of the above two kampongs along with  the sisters of Soroptomist International Johor Bahru Branch ( S.I. JB.) led by Dr Rani, Mary Fernandez and Harjeet Sandhu having carried  out   welfare and charitable work, community service as well as humanitarian assistance to  the flood victims in the districts of Johor Bahru and Kota Tinggi. The MMA is confident that S.I.  JB  , which has already undertaken flood relief work in the above 2 kampongs  will be able to disburse the donations to needy  flood victims in the two Kampongs mentioned above.
The funds were made available by the MMA Foundation which was set up in 1974 to assist the Association contribute more to the community. This was to be done by providing scholarships, loans and grants to needy medical students, donations to charities and sponsoring community health projects and public health education, continuing medical education programme and scientific research in the country.
The MMA team was led by Project Coordinator Dr Jagendra Singh Sandhu, its Chairman Dr Koh Kian Tee and  his committee members along with the members of the Soroptomist International Johor Bahru Branch .
The MMA and SI teams started their donations to residents of Kampong Laut Scudai from 9 am in the morning and finished by donating to the needy residents of Kampong Kangkar Tebrau nex to Taman Daya by  12 noon.
There are still many more who need help in the above areas and also the other districts of Johor and we hope to carry out this exercise again. The Malaysian Medical Association ( Johor Branch ) wish to thank the members of  Soroptomist International Johor Bahru Branch for the cooperation rendered to us.
