REPROGRAMMING YOUR SUBCONSCIOUS MIND WITH ONLY POSITIVE DATA!

Here is a simple, four-step action plan that you can use to change or control unwanted habits -- to make a significant and positive change in your life -- within 21 days.

It takes increased motivation and perseverance to reverse the course of years of bad habits. According to Matt Oeschli, it takes 21 days to reprogram your subconscious mind or to develop a new habit. (See Insight Jan 1990 issue.)

The four steps to reprogramming (or programming) your mind:

A. Step One:

Write down a self-statement that describes exactly how you want to be, as if it were true now. Your statement must be worded in the present tense and must be positive. Always word your self-statement as if it were a current fact. In this way you are taking maximum advantage of your subconscious mind, because it doesn't know the difference between fact and fiction.

Examples

  1. I am full of confidence!

  2. I am full of patience and understanding with my children.

B. Step Two:

Record the self-statement you have just written on to an audiocassette, repeating the statement at seven (7) to ten (10) second intervals for 15 minutes. This will be your self-programming cassette that you can listen to in the car or wherever else is convenient. (excellent for when you are doing your exercise program.)

Let's say that "I am full of confidence!" is the self-statement you are going to record. Get a hand-held recorder, or connect a microphone to your stereo system, put in a blank tape, and record, "I am full of confidence"; pause for 7 to 10 seconds; "I am full of confidence": pause for 7 to 10 seconds; and so on.

C. Step Three:

Get a picture of yourself that represents what you want, and place it on your nightstand or somewhere else near your bed. Now this is easy, if you want a new car, a new house or some other material possession. But if gaining confidence is your mission, you will have to be more creative. You might find a picture of a person who represents to you the epitome of confidence and replace his head with yours. Example -- One of my hero's has always been Elizabeth Taylor, with all her money and fame, she has a weight problem and is a real person and she shares this with the world.. Well I took a picture of her when she had lost a lot of weight and had on a beautiful gown and pasted my head on it and placed this by my bedside, while I was actively working my program it reall helped (EDNA)

Get a picture that represents what you want, and let your subconscious work for you every night!

D. Step Four:

Spend 10 to 15 minutes every day writing out and visualizing your self-improvement goal. Select a time -- I always recommend early morning -- to write your self-statement 10 times. (Hopefully you can do this in a private, quiet corner of your world... You young mothers and fathers have a particular challenge!)

Then look at your picture, as if it were real now. Sense all the details. Make yourself the star of your daydream, acting like you are the person you ideally want to be. Feel how it will feels, Hear how it sounds. Visualize how you will look. Touch it to see how it feels. Use all of your senses. After about 10 minutes or so, open your eyes, take another look at your picture, and go about your business of the day.

This is like creating your own mental movie, and you are the star, just as you would like to be. It is much like a controlled daydream, and with a little practice, you will be able to do it easily. To really make it work, do active awake daydreaming too. (Example: If part of your new self wants a red sports car, go to the dealership and sit in one, test drive one, paste a picture of one in your scrap book - with you sitting in the driver's seat. Place a picture of it along side of your new self.. Be creative here, it is fun!

E. One Last Tip!

Get actively involved with a sophistiated piece of biofeedback equipment: a rubber band. Place a rubber band on your wrist. Every time you recognize any negative thought about anything, give that little baby a snap, and follow the snap with a corresponding self-statement.

For instance, if you catch yourself getting angry, snap your rubber band, and say to yourself. "I am relaxed and in control." This enables you to flush the negative thought before it can get programmed, and to replace it with your own positive programming statement.

Simple? I have just brushed the surface of the subject. And it is not easy. But it is an excellent way to get started. I challenge you to embellish the simplicity and get started on taking control of the habits in your life!!

My first 21 day self-programming program. Insert one to four self-improvement statements as if they are already true.

Date__________________________________________________

(By committing your self and having another person witness this committment you are more likely to complete your self-progrmming program!) If you have no one that you want to trust or share your new goals with, email me and I will be your witness. Caution: You do not want to include too many people with your program until you have finished, there are too many people out there that will try to sabotage you... And you will probably sabotage your self if you are not used to this kind of thinking...TRUST ME, THIS REALLY WORKS!

Note: Suggested self statements for The Magic of Thinking Thin Weight Control Program Members:

  1. I am healthy and fit.
  2. I weigh ____ pounds. Insert your goal weight in the blank.
  3. I wear a size ____. Insert your goal size in the blank.
  4. I have lots of energy.
  5. I look nice!

The reason you always make your statements in a positive mode is because the subconscious does not deal in negatives... Example: If you say "I will not eat non nutricious food", the subconscious will hear "I will eat non nutricious food" so therefore you have just programmed your self for failure!

Have fun and good luck... You can do it, I know you can!!
