Chip upgrade, boost at ~16psi

The previous owner had a modified chip by RE Amemiya, that took boost to approximately 13psi. But this chip was not going to cope with removing the catalytic converter and putting in a 3" down pipe. The fact is that when you improve volumetric efficiencies, the engine can start running lean. Then you run the risk of detonation. Remember one ping on a rotary spells death!

I sent my computer to RES (Rotary Engine Specialists) in Auckland. They sent it to G^Sport who have contacts with a Japanese company who modify computers to order. We simply told them the mods we were planning and that we wanted 16psi, and away they went!

Since then I've replaced the stock ECU with a APEXi PowerFC and use Datalogit to tune it and a Techedge wide band oxygen sensor. The result is a much smoother running setup that I can run much leaner to suit the water injeciton. For tunning advise I use the Datalogit support group web site. If you are planning on using a PowerFC then I strongly recommend you either get a proffesional to tune your car or buy Datalogit and make use of the support group.
