Old News!

Welcome!!

Welcome to Dann's 88 LX Mustang Page! While surfing through this page you will find information regarding the history, current status and future of my first Mustang.

History

I purchased my first Mustang in 1995 at the age of 17. My first car was a hand me down Pontiac Grand Am from my father which was totalled in an accident I was involved in. I received $ 2800 for the Grand Am and went out looking for a new car. From the time I was 13 I had wanted to own a Mustang. A girlfriend of mines father had a 70 Mustang with a 351 that he raced at the local track. I attended the races nearly every week and fell in love with the Mustang. When I went out looking for one it was a lot harder than I thought. I had to purchase from a dealer and I just couldn't find a suitable car. I found my car at the last dealership I decided I would look. If that dealership did not have one, I would have settled for another model. Actually it proabably would have a been a first generation Ford Probe. I chose my car out of 3 Mustangs they had on the lot. The other 2 cars were an 88 Gt and an 87 LX convertible. I payed $ 6500 for my car and it had 63,000 miles at the time.

General Info

My car is one of 30,877 non-GT 5.0 L cars built for the 1988 model year. It was built in Dearborn in November of 1987.

Factory Options

My car was delivered from the factory with power windows and locks, flip up sun roof, AC, and power lumbar.

Exterior

My 88 is maroon in color with black body side moldings. It rides on 91-93 Mustang 5-star pony wheels wrapped with 225/55/16 Michelin Pilot XGT Z4's

Interior

Grey cloth interior with GT seats in the front. Pioneer CD player with upgraded speakers in the factory locations.

Engine and Modifications

Engine is factory stock 5.0L 302ci. Ignition has been upgraded with a Screamin Demon Coil, Dyna Mod Ignition Module and Accel 300+ wires.

Transmission and Rear

Automatic Overdrive transmission (AOD) with 8.8 Traction-Lok Rear. The gears have not been changed by me, but I believe they may have been changed by a previous owner. I received very good information as to a method to find out from people who have visisted this web page. I will post the results when the test is done.

Air induction and exhaust

K n N panel air filter is the lone modification on the intake side. The exhaust has been upgraded with BBK equal length headers, BBK off road h-pipe and 2 chamber Flowmaster Mufflers

Future Modifications

The next thing that is going to be done is a set of March underdrive pulleys. I have them in my possession, they just need to be installed. They will probably go in on Monday when the car is taken to the shop to check for exhaust leaks.
