Note: I wanted people from around the country to see the what the SoCal import/sport compact car street drag racing was all about. If you live in SoCal, you know already that the races are a "bust", but people still go and they still happen. Some of the best street racing can be found in the San Fernando Valley(Sylmar), Carson/Long Beach, Ontario and Kerney Mesa Road in San Diego. I know there's more but these seem to have the best races, crews and cars. You should never street race, it's illegal and dangerous. But we all know it happens and if you do it, then try to be smart about it. I hope to feature some of the crews and teams that have Neons in them. One of the better known crews that has Neons is ReVolt from San Diego. I found Brian Hughes' Neon ACR at the Import Auto Salon from earlier this year. I also met "Hayslip" from ReVolt and some other members that tagged along with him during the Super Street Power Tour West. Enough talking here are the pictures.

Hayslip's Neon features(at lease that's what he told me)an intake from Group 5 Motorsports, NOS Dry nitrous system (60hp), Crower re-grounded cams, HotShot header and some type of free-flow muffler. He was using his nitrous one day and was lucky only to have "fried" a spark plug. If you have seen my post on the mailing list and the Info Exchange, you'll know why I don't like the NOS Dry manifold system. 60hp dry may seem easy enough for a Neon to handle, and it is. But the problem is that if you go pass the 40-50hp mark, you will have a "lean" condition when the nitrous is used. The factory injectors cannot supply enough fuel to have the right air/fuel mixture at a setting higher than 50hp. I told hayslip this and he offered to buy my nitrous set-up on the spot. I thought about it for a second and passed. He can get his own, hehehehe. For those of you thinking about nitrous, learn from this... It's not the right way to go about it..
