The Family Vehicles

In July of 2000, the whole family drove from Huntsville, AL, to Nevada City, CA, to pick up this 1958 Morris Minor Traveller, which we christened "Twig". We put almost 6000 miles on the family van during that trip!

I had the original ribcase transmission rebuilt after I bought the car. I removed and replaced the transmission, but the rebuild was more than I could handle on my own. I sent the transmission to Morriservice so I would be sure to get the best work possible. Here are some photos of the project.

Because some people asked to see Denise's pink Minor, here are photos of Emma. We have washed the bird droppings off of the car since these photos were taken, and I've removed and reinstalled the grill and trim to make it fit better. We also installed new interior kit. It looks really good now (for a pink car). Notice the tag number. Denise got upset that the folks on the Morris Minor email discussion list were calling Emma the "Mary Kaye Minor" because of the pink paint. The tag is a shortened version of "Not Mary Kaye".

If you want to see my first Minor, click here. This car has been sold, restored, and resold since these photos were taken.

We haven't always been devoted to Morris Minors. We spent many years building and restoring VW bugs. This is the last one we built. When I bought Twig I sold this car to a local fireman. I still see it around town. We built this car from the remnants of at least three others.
