Denise's Bio Page
My name is Denise Presley Nelson. I am often referred to as "Rick's wife" and/or "Ryan's mom" as well as "Mrs. N." (in class only). I am a sixth grade Science teacher at Hazel Green Elementary School. I received my Bachelor of Science in Education from Athens State College in June, 1991. For 2 1/2 years I worked as a substitute teacher for Huntsville City Schools and Madison County Schools before I was hired to teach 5th grade English at Hazel Green in 1996. The following school year, the principal asked me to transfer from English to the Sixth grade unit and teach science - where I have been ever since. I love teaching science because it allows me to be creative and inventive during my teaching. Creativity is one of my strengths - I am also the Odyssey of the Mind coach/coordinator for our school.
