Camaro History
1967 - 2000
The following information was taken from a Copenhagen promotion which gave away a '67 Vintage Camaro & 2000 Z28 Camaro. '01 & '02 models were not covered. If any information is incorrect feel free to email me at timothy_lopez@yahoo.com, and I will correct the information as soon as possible.

FIRST GENERATION (1967-69)
The Camaro reset the standard for pony cars with its debut on September 26, 1966. With sleek lines and a long list of luxury and performance options, the new car was a hit with the public. Over the first three years of the Camaro's existance almost 700,000 of the cars rolled off the assembly lines in Norwood, Ohio, and Van Nuys, California.

1967
A first for Chevrolet, the Camaro was a sports car for the mases, backing up its racy good looks with performance all the way up to a 396cid/375hp engine option. A mysterous Z/28 package was ordered by 602 lucky buyers.

1968
Externally very similar to the '67, less the vent windows, the '68 was red hot, with the Z/28 leading the charge. In race trim, the Z/28 earned Camaro the Trans Am Championship, behind Mark Donohue and Roger Penske.

1969
Considered by the experts to be the best year for classic Camaro design, the '69 model featured exterior changes such as a striking new grille and all-new sheetmetal. Sixty-nine special all-alluminum big-block 427cid-equipped cars were created under the special ZL1 order option.
