                                 Headlight Mod (Chrome!!!!)

I hate the look of the stock headlight.  I bought a light from Princess Auto for $32 Canadian including tax.  It is a utility light (can be used as a backup light on a pickup truck or a headlight for a tractor) and to my surprise the light works very well.  It has a tight beam and is quite bright.  The bulb is a 35 Watt 12 volt single coil unit, so I now have an on/off switch rather than high/low.  My light came with a bracket which mounted right on the front plastic plate with two sheet metal screws (used for the agressive threads so that they don't rip out of the plastic) and the bolt which holds the bottom of the plastic plate onto the fork brace now goes through the headlight bracket as well as the plastic plate (I had to use a longer bolt).  I relocated the speedo to a metal tube I had cut off of our old 78 mercury's gas inlet pipe (the car was converted to propane) and bolted the tube to the old headlight mounting location.  I also relocated the ignition to the steering stem and ran the wires down the stem.  All my wiring is now behind the plastic plate, and it's actually not very noticable.  This was an easy mod which I feel really improved the looks of my ped, it sort of looks like a chopper now.
