Building My GTX
Preparing the body for paint
Start with one tidy old GTX complete with original engine and trans, luckily for
me the car was 100% complete and had never been Hot Rodded . The Car was imported to New Zealand from California about 2 years before
I purchased it .
The first Job was to tear it apart down to a bare shell . then start the long job of preparing
the body for paint . We removed all the paint using paint stripper and a 3 M disk .Once we had it bare the metal
was preped and etch primed .
Many hours of dent removal , priming , sanding and blocking followed before I was sure that the body
was near perfect . At this stage we had decided on body coloured bumpers so they were sent out to
be dipped , which removed the chrome plating . The rear bumper was then sent out to be straightened.
