Building My GTX Cont.

Paint time

At last we are ready to paint the car . As I was going to paint it myself and did not have access to a booth we used acrylic laquer rather than the newer 2 pack paints. The reasons for this were that the acrylic is a lot less toxic , easier to correct mistakes and touch up later .

Colour choice was difficult . We had already decided that we were not going to repaint in the original amber sherwood metalic as that was just too bland . It had to be green as the interior is green . I had a Mopar Action magazine with a Sassey Grass Green GTX on the cover and decided that was the colour we needed , with a bit of encouragement from my friend and fellow Mopar man ,John Reid. A long search for a paint formula followed without success . Then I was lucky enough to be sent a formula that had been made up in New Zealand . We had a liter mixed and it was pretty good but just a little muddy. The colour on the car is loosely based on that paint but is a custom mix and a lot cleaner .
