The Kirkwood Subdivision is a present-day HO scale model railroad of a freelanced Union Pacific subdivision. Location is in Kansas and Nebraska. The basic layout is a loop-to-loop design with double track main lines connecting the loops. These loops are mostly hidden, and are the staging areas for transcontinental traffic at both ends. |

At present, only the lower deck and peninsula are operating, which results in "loop- to-point" operations. These operations currently consist of running two unit coal drags with distributed power, and a " local" to switch cars at three customers. The bench work for upper deck is about half complete. The two decks are not separate and joined by a helix, but instead, form a giant spiral around the walls. This grade 'connecting' the two decks is 54 feet long with a 3.48% ruling grade. |
The layout is still under construction, so check back often to see what has been added. Last updated on 4/18/05.
