OUR 1951 CHEVY PICKUP
Before Restoration
A Little History
When I was growing up among other early American vehicles I always had a fascination for the "Advanced Design" Series Chevrolet Pickups (as I discovered that '48 through early '55 pickups were so designated).  I also discovered that my 1951 was the first year that vent windows were added.  However, my truck had been in an accident some years back, wrecking the driver's door.  The owners replaced the door with an early version, thus explaining the lack of a vent window on the driver's side.

We enjoyed discovering many of these little pieces of information on our quest to learn more about our newly found (bought) treasure.
The first thing we did was begin documenting exactly what we brought home.  We took several pictures from different angles to get a good idea what we had. We also ordered an Owner Manual, as well as a Factory Assembly manual among many other magazines, etc.

We wanted to know all we could about our pickup before we got started.  Below you can find a few of the pictures we took during those first few months.
