Rough Body Work

The fiberglass body comes gel-coated but with rough parting seams from the mold. These run all the way down the tops of the fenders and across the nose and backend of the body. These have to be ground down and filled and then the whole body has to be block sanded. This was the most tedious part of the buildup. I am certainly not a pro but I do OK at body work. It took me about 100 hours just to do the body prep and priming. The hand sanding seems endless and I maintained my sanity by interspersing chassis work with body work.

By the way, at the start just build a body buck to hold the body. That's where I ended up doing most of my body work so that I didn't get sanding dust and overspray on the chassis and subframe.
