Body Work Body work is the hardest part of restoring a car like mine. Often the word 'cancer' is used when rust is found. My car had a severe case of cancer. We decided that the best way to get rid of the rust and make the new paint surfaces smooth would be to take each layer of paint off by sanding and striping. In order to get my car to bare metal, we had to go through 5 layers of paint, all different colors. All dents were pulled or filled, and then a paper thin layer of Bondo was spread all over the car and sanded to get rid of all the ripples.
