My Miata

Proof that Miatas were not meant for off road purposes! :)

(4 of us had to lift the car from the rear and push it to the road)

History

I bought my Miata in June 1998 at a used car dealer. I fell in love the second I laid eyes on it! It was a 1992 Crystal White with AC/PS/PW. It also had a 12 disc Panasonic CD Changer and an Autovox Auto Alarm (to keep those pesky kids away from my baby). However, it was not without its faults. The night I had bought it, the rear passenger brake pad CAUGHT ON FIRE! The culprit was a warped rotor (or so I was told). And if my first night wasn't bad enough, the zipper busted on the rear window! The dealer refused to fix it.. said it wasn't power/drivetrain related. I was moving a day later and needed a car, so I bit the bullet and bought the new top. The next day, the catback exhaust was installed at a local muffler shop in El Paso, TX. Custom stainless steel 2 1/4" to a generic Turbo Muffler with a 4" chrome tip. Major improvement in performance. Next was the drive from El Paso, TX to Baltimore where I am now. Beautiful trip in my new Miata during the summer. Later came the other mods which have brought me to the level of performance that I am at now:

Goal

Well, anybody can strap on a turbo and nitrous and achieve 300+ rwhp. My goal is to gain as much rwhp/torque from a NA motor. I plan on acheiving a larger displacement through new and stronger engine internals, to overboring the engine, I plan on acheiving Japanese C-Spec performance and get as close to 300 rwhp as possible. 300 is a large number, but if set my sights high, I plan on acheiving maximum NA performance. If I set my sights lower, I could be limiting myself in possibilities. Although it will be a slow climb to the top limited by income, it will nonetheless be achieved. So it shall be done...

The MX5 must look as agressive (if not more) as it is fast. I fell in love with the Shogun Body Kit awhile back. I plan on that kit with a black paint job with white stripes. The interior will feature the white MazdaSpeed seats available through Moss Motors. This will be accompanied by a full Carbon Fiber interior treatment and custom door panels. A white style bar will accompany the amazing Shogun Tonneau Cover from Erebuni Corp. If I can find white carpet, that will finish off the interior.

An equally impressive sound system will accompany the new look and performance. A 12" Bass tube will be mounted in the trunk to accompany the 12 Disc Changer and Amplifiers (3). Two 10" Subwoofers will be custom installed into the rear deck (12s if they will fit!). High performance tweeters will be mounted on the A Pillars. Door and headrest speakers will also be replaced with high performance speakers. 3 amps will power the system and let me be heard, and I don't just mean by the exhaust note either!

The car's goal is to look good enough to win shows, fast enough to win races, and to reach a level that demands respect.
