The Panoz is one of the most interesting cars in racing today.  Panoz is a very small company going up against the likes of Porsche, and the real Goliath, Mercedes (Mercedes has a racing budget about the size of Porsche's annual revenues).  Despite having a much smaller budget than either of these two giants, Panoz still manages to produce cars that are fairly competitive.  I was at Laguna Seca for the Sports Car Championship race this year, and a Panoz came in fourth.  And of all the cars at the race, the Panoz looked the wildest.  The only other car that came close was the Marcos, which was a GT2 racer, while the Panoz is in the GT1 class.  The Panoz relies on cubic inches to get the job done, while Porsche and Mercedes both turn to the technology of turbos, so it sounds quite different.  The Porsche and Mercedes both have high-pitched engine sounds, whereas the Panoz has a low, rumbling engine sound.
