To assist in compiling information for this site I have created this document that you can print out and take to your car. This should help you to obtain the information that applies to your car. After you have this form filled out, then you can return to the page on the website to enter the information accurately.

In the engine compartment

1. On the frame rail, left hand side just in from the battery is your Vehicle Identification Number [VIN]

Insert your number here:__________________________________________

2. If you have a number on the plate by the code DD: [Delivery Date]

Insert the number here:__________________________________________

3. Next look for the Fisher Body ID tag. It is located on the frame rail at the rear. On most cars it is located on the right side. It is possible it is on the left side.

Insert the location here:__________________________________________

4. On the tag are several lines of information in code form.

A. First is a stamped set of numbers and letters that indicate when the car was made. For example: 03B R

decodes to: March, second week, shift 18 during the week

The factory began production of the next year models in August, so it is possible

to have a '65 car built in '64. The model year production usually ended in June

or early July to facilitate the change to the next model year.

Insert your code here:_________________________________

B. Next is the Model and Body information. The ST = Style. The numbers

designate the year and model.

Corvair Model Numbers

10137 = 500 Sport Coupe

10139 = 500 Sport Sedan

10537 = Monza Sport Coupe

10539 = Monza Sport Sedan

10567 = Monza Convertible

10737 = Corsa Sport Coupe

10767 = Corsa Convertible

Compare this model information with the VIN to confirm the correct model.

This is the best way to verify that the car is the model you think it is. More than

a few other models have been "converted" to a Corsa. I have even seen a coupe

changed into a convertible!

The letter code that follows tells you where the car was built,

WRN = Willow Run, Michigan

LOS = Los Angeles [Actually Van Nuys] California

The numbers that follow tell you the production sequence for the specific model.

Example: ST 66-10539 WRN 0253 BODY

Decodes to:

1966 Monza Sport Sedan - Willow Run - 253rd Monza Sport Sedan built that year

Insert your complete code line here: _________________________________

C. The next line contains codes that describe the original upholstery and paint for the car.

TR = Trim There are separate pages on this website that lists the codes and their definition.

Example: TR 702 E-E PAINT

Decodes to: Light Fawn Pattern Imitation Leather [Vinyl] bucket seats Danube Blue exterior paint

Insert your complete code line here: _________________________________

D. The next one or two lines contain the mysterious code letters that describe the options that required body modification by Fisher Body Manufacturing. Not all Regular Production Options that may be on your car appear here. These were a record for final inspection by Fisher Body before the car was sent to Chevrolet to have the suspension and powertrain installed . Again, there is a page of the known codes and their definition on the website.

Example: ED2MT3C5W

Decodes to: E= all tinted glass, D= power top, M= Powerglide automatic, T= rear electric antenna, W= deluxe seatbelts with retractors

We need to know your best guess on What options were built on your car from the Factory, so that we can figure out the complete set of codes that exist. Please print out the RPO list from this site and check your car.

Remember that it is very possible that equipment has been added to your car thru the years, starting with the dealer that sold the car when new! Of course you should include the additions, but if you are not sure they are factory installed, then place a ? in front of the line.
