Andy's Sad Rev Head Page!

Some of my past, present and future vehicles!

The following are a few photos of my past, present and dream future rides- a few I don't have photos of, but never mind. They aren't that exciting anyway!

Car 1: 1950's Wolseley 1500. I learnt to drive at seven, and we got this car when I was 11 for $40 off an old lady. It went well, even starting after two months completely buried under a huge snowdrift!

Car 2: 1970's Austin Allegro 1500. this had to be one of the ugliest cars ever to come out of Britain. I needed a new farm hack after the old one went to the scrapyard in the sky, and this was sitting down at the local garage for $120. This thing was almost as good as a four wheel drive- shows what determination and a lack of caring will make a car do!

Car 3: 1971 Morris Minor. My first car for the road- bought it for $400 when I was 16, well, I was young. Still, managed to squeeze 82 miles per hour (135 km/h) out of it!

Car 4: 1990 Rover Metro. Hmm, nice and new, but everyone had one of these. Reliable, comfortable, economical- how boring! Great car that served me for three years at uni in Edinburgh. Excellent in the snow- handbrake turns were around every corner in the winter!

Car 5: 1977 Statesman. 308 (mate!) Turbo 400 box, air con, huge lounge seats etc. A beast but quite enjoyable. Even managed 11-13 m.p.g. Oh those fuel bills...

Car 6: 1976 Mazda 929 Hardtop (series 3). Not the most loved of the 929's, with its Rolls Royce front grill (not my description!). Came with the wonderful 1800 VC motor. Soon chucked it for an extend port 13B, RX7 5 speed, 2.5 inch exhaust and so on. Bloody fast car...(as the coppers said when they nicked me twice).

Car 7: 1978 Mazda RX7 (series 1). Imported new from Japan, and hence exempt from Australian Compliance rules. Started off with 13B extend port and RX5 gearbox. Got bored of that, so chucked in Series 5 turbo motor, which blew after 6 months. Now chucking in another series 5 turbo motor and series 4 auto- try it and see sort of thing! Three resprays in three years as well...

This next one we had in Scotland for water carting- it was bloody great fun to drive! (my first turbo!)

What does the future hold in store for my garage? Well, I've always liked '50's cars, so when I found this in a friend's field, my mind started to tick...

This is a 50-something Ford Mainline Ute V8. Some day I might just get enthusiastic and grab it!
