2002 Competition Rules

The intent of the association in the year 2002 is to further develop the series with the best possible grids, close and enjoyable racing and a friendly social atmosphere.

The series rules stated below are supplementary to the N.C.R's of C.A.M.S and as stated for SPORTS SEDANS in the relevant C.A.M.S manual of Motorsport.   These rules pertain to the running of the 2 LITRE SPORTS SEDAN SERIES from the 1st of January 2002.   All references to "the association" refer to the 2 LITRE SPORTS SEDAN SERIES VICTORIA (inc).

Competitors must comply with these rules in their entirety in order to receive series points.   Points are awarded to either the indiviual competitor, or an offficialy registered team.

1. CLASSES AND AWARDS

Series points and awards may be allocated to competitors for both outright placing's as well as the following engine capacity...

CLASS "A" - 1601cc to 2000cc

CLASS "B" - up to 1600cc

CLASS "C" - Front Wheel Drive

Class and outright placing's for a round will be calculated by the addition of the points gained (see point scoring below) by individual and teams competitors in all races contested for the 2 LITRE SPORTS SEDANS at that round.   Points will only be awarded for a race meeting nominated by the association as being a round of the 2 LITRE SPORTS SEDAN SERIES.

For awards to be allocated in a particular class for a round, a minimum of three competitors needs to be entered in that class for that round.   Class points will be allocated regardless of the number of competitors entered.

Class trophies will be awarded on the following basis.

3 competitors - 1st place only

4 competitors - 1st and 2nd place

5 or more competitors - 1st, 2nd and 3rd place

End of year series awards, for both class and outright, will be calculated by the addition of all an individual or teams round totals.

2. POINT SCORING

OUTRIGHT... 1st = 20 points down to 16th = 5 points

CLASS... 1st = 10 points down to 10th = 1 point

No points will be allocated for finishing lower than 10th in class.

3. ENGINE SEALING

To receive points or awards in a 2 LITRE SPORTS SEDAN SERIES round, a competitor must have all engines used in that round measured for capacity, sealed and all relevant measurements, engine number and seal number recorded by an engine sealer approved by the association.   A CAMS approved engine sealer may also be used.

The following exemption to this rule will be given to members in their first ever round of 2 LITRE SPORTS SEDAN SERIES competition.   A first time competitor may run with an unmeasured engine provided that the engine is sealed by an association approved engine sealer prior to the commencement of the 1st race and the engine number and seal is recorded.   To have the points gained from that round ratified the competitor must, have this engine presented with the seal intact to an engine sealer approved by the association to have the engine measure , the capacity confirmed and the engine resealed and relevant details (see above) recorded, within 14 days of the conclusion of that round.

4. SIGNAGE

A strip 200mm high across the top of the windscreen (as specified in the CAMS Manual of Motorsport Schedule K) is to be made available for round/series sponsors and signage supplied to the competitors by the association for this purpose must be displayed in this location before the start of the first race.

The area above the numbers on the side of the vehicle is to be made available for the sponsor signage as determined by the association.

The current 2 Litre Sports Sedan Series sticker must be displayed in a prominent position on both sides of the car.

5. RACING CONDUCT

If a competitor is involved in an on track incident of collision with another competitor and the competitor is found guilty by CAMS or its representatives, in a post race investigation, then the offending competitor shall receive NO POINTS FOR THAT ROUND

6. ROOKIE

To obtain the status of Rookie the competitor must have competed in a total of no more than 2 rounds of the 2 Litre Sports Sedan Series in any previous season.

7. TEAM ENTRANT

2 Competitors may enter as a team using the official TEAM REGISTRATION FORM and for that season their individual points will be allocated to that team only.

Whilst registered as part of a team no points can be accrued as an individual driver.   Each team member must enter as driver in at least one event.
