I became interested in the Scout at an early age. I got a Scout for a "first car" in High School. It was a '78 and I loved it! Two years later I sold it? I don't know if I lost interest becouse of the large amounts of rust, or maybe becouse parts were hard to find and expensive, or could it have been becouse all of my friends had Firebirds and Camero's that looked sharp and I thought thats what I wanted. Who knows!! I was young and stupid. In March of '97 I purchased a '74 Scout for parts and a '77 Scout to rebuild/drive. (I am also looking at a 1980 Scout but not a done deal yet) My '74 Scout sat at my house for 2 years before I owned it. A friend of mine was storing it becouse it had a bad transmission. He said I could buy it for $500.00 so I looked it over and found the motor to be bad not the trans. so when I finally found him again (2years later)I told him no becouse of the bad motor and he said he wasn't going to do anything with it and gave it to me for FREE?! so I bought him a beer and called it even. I actually bought my '77 two monts before I cought up with my friend again. I bought it for $400.00. The body is completely shot from the back of the doors back. The suspention is dead ,but it does run good.
