1999 Honda Civic

The following pictures are of my wife's 1999 Honda Civic HX Model. She was coming home one evening and caught some ice on a small bridge. Her speed was around 30 MPH. When the car started over the bridge, the back end kicked out and put her into the guardrail. To our surprise, there was NO AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT. Upon impact, the car caught fire and was totaled. When the fire department arrived to extinguish the 10 foot flames, they had to break the windows to gain entrance because the electrical system melted, causing the power locks to lock. Luckily, she was not injured and was able to escape from the car before the electrical system melted. After some research, we came upon a recall for the 2000 and 2001 models. The problem was a ruptured gas line causing the motors to catch fire. (Go figure) There was NO RECALL for the 1999. Currently we have an attorney handling this for us.
