Martini & Minardi in F1 History

Pierluigi Martini drove in F1 between 1984 & 1995
9 years in Minardi scoring 18 points with 4th being his best finish and 2nd on the grid once out of 119 Grand Prix started.
Martini finished 11th overall in 1991 beating the likes of JJ Lehto & Gachot (12th), Michael Schumacher (rookie 13th) Mika Hakkinen (rookie) & Mark Brundle (15th), Capelli & Blundell (18th) and Morbidelli (24th).
Ayrton Senna won the 1991 Championship ahead of Mansell and Patrese.
Three years later Schumacher won the Championship for Bennetton.

Mark Webber & Alex Yoong

Webber finished 5th on his debut at the 2002 Australian Grand Prix.

By finishing with 3 laps of race winner Michael Schumacher or about 4mins behind, Webber was about 5 seconds a lap slower - not a shabby effort for his debut.
When challenged by the experienced Mika Salo, the Minardi responded in the corners though it would be outclassed on a long straight.  Full Report

Minardi's goal is to beat one of the bigger teams by capitalising on mistakes and attrition.
