Quad restoration...

The purchase of this CGT has been done in 1993. When i bought this Chevrolet CGT, I didn't know a lot about CMP's and even less about artillery tractor. In fact, I have never heard about artillery quad and thought that there was only one type of canadian Ford or Chevrolet trucks.
There was no CMP's collector in the area where I lived. All the knowledges i knew owned only american vehicles.
But as I never liked to do as everybody and never listened about friendly  but ignorant advices, I jumped into the adventure blind eyed.

CGT purchased

I bought this vehicle at random. A friend talked to me about it. I went to see it and I bought it. It looked rather like a wreck than like a fresh factory issue.
Without any good advices (from CMP's collector), I didn't buy it at its real price, considering that it was a vehicle needed a thoroughtly restoration and lot of its original parts were missing.

After the purchase, I begun to look after informations. I went to the Brussels Tank Museum library and found technical manuals about CMP's. I found out that the four first figures  "8808", begining its chassis number, stamped on the only remaining identification plate, signified that it was an artillery tractor in place of the common truck, I thought until then.

This Chevrolet has been used by the danish army. Lot of modifications have been done. The square hatch roof has been replaced by a round AA one. The rear body has been removed against a common home made tip. Same treatment has been done about the dashboard. Most of  the original plates, switches and clusters were gone.

This artillery tractor hauled a 25 pounder shells storage limber and its gun.
