I've been playing golf since I was 6 or 7. My dad had cut the shafts on some of his golf clubs and had them regripped so that I had some real clubs that I can practice with rather than the plastic ones they make for kids. At the age of 10, one of my dads friends was living in LA while competing in PGA tounaments across the US. While he was here he has given me some pointers, well more like private lessons. I learned alot from him. In my freshman year of high school, I joined the golf team. At that point I was shooting an average of 110 - 113. After a couple of years of playing golf in high school, I improved my game and was shooting in the range of 100. Since then I've been playing off and on and averaging mid to low 90's. Recently my friend Wil has decided to take on the sport and I find myself playing alot more. Which is good because I see myself improving all the time. Now all I need to do is get this improvement to show on the golf course. I believe I can shoot in the mid 80's consistantly as long as I stop making foolish mistakes and my putting improves. But once I get there I'll let you know.

Up until a few years ago, I was using a set of Wilson Pro Staff Tour blades. I liked these clubs but the grooves were wearing thin. So when I went to Japan in 1995, I picked up a set of Maruman irons. I bought the Marumans cause I wanted to buy a set of clubs that weren't that common here. The irons were close to $3000.00. I also picked up a Hira Honma persimmon 3 and 4 wood. Each of these cost $500.00. These fairway woods are great. You could launch them a mile but there not that forgiving. The marumans are actually pretty hard to hit. It took me a long time to get use to them. These clubs do not know what the word forgiving means. Slightly off the mark and your ball will stop 30 to 40 yards short, to the left or the right. I've been wanting to replace them ever since I tried Wil's Titleist 962, 3 and 4 iron. I could smack those things a mile with ease. They are so easy to hit. I'll have to see how well I play with my clubs in the next few months and that'll determine whether or not I'll replace the irons.
The following are recent score cards of mine. Hopefully I can get score cards from different courses and the same as well so that I can track my improvements and also see what courses give me the hardest time. The very last score card is the best I ever shot, or what I feel was my best game. This will be determined by course difficulty and conditions and not neccessarily by best score.

Visit Wil's Golf Page to see how he's progressing. I started teaching him a few months ago and hes picking up the game pretty fast.
