The Restoration Progress Week 5
8/30/97 Saturday
The Beetle is still having more coats of primer applied. Also, the pan needs to be coated with marine coating before painting starts. Estimated time to paint is probably next Thursday. I went to a new store for beetle parts today in Irving, TX called Slug Bug. It is a new parts store for aircools. The owner Marc Toussaint responded to a newsgroup posting at rec.autos.makers.vw.aircooled I had for advice on where to get quality parts at a good price. He emailed me that he could give me good prices for quality parts. He gives a 10% discount for North Texas VW Club Members. I ordered a Headliner, purchased a back and rear quarter window seals, and other items from Slug Bug to get ready to start on installing the headliner next weekend.
9/4/97, Thursday
The Bonnet that Estate Paint and Body Received from V-Dubs was damaged so they had to reorder another one. This will delay the painting of the Beetle until we can locate another hood. Also, my headliner and Pinch Welt came in yesterday from SlugBug. Going to pick it up Saturday. I was hoping to start on the interior this weekend but will have to wait until we get the Beetle painted.
