Probably the best way to explain the 309's success is to say it's a mid-range car which is everything but
a mid-range car. Without any compromises, the 309 offers maximum cabin space for a reasonably-sized
exterior, optimal balance between engine performance and economy, clean-cut and attractive modern lines,
with maximum security features. The 309 is available in a 5-door body, and either a petrol or diesel
engine. The basic GL version includes air conditioning as standard equipment. With remarkable basic
features and a useful luggage volume that can be doubled or tripled as needed, between 398 and 1,280
litres simply by folding up one or both back seats. Front-wheel drive, independent 4-wheel suspension
(specially adjusted for driving conditions in India), anti-slant bars, front-wheel disc brakes and
floating toe-links: the 309 works well to provide Peugeot's legendary reliability, resistance and
finishings. This vehicle is not manufactured anymore.
