Gary's SQUEEZED Z-28 Homepage!
Modifications

My recent "modfest" is finally complete! Installed were LT4 heads/intake, CompCams Nitrous Extreme Cam, BBK/Edelbrock 58mm throttle body, CompCams Pro-Magnum 1.6 Roller Rockers, and RK Sport 1 3/4" ceramic coated headers & Y-pipe. See below for more details & pictures!

MTI Cold Air induction with K&N Filter

This is much more efficient than the stock air box. It allows the Camaro to breathe more air as well as colder air from underneath the car, rather than heated air from inside the engine bay.

Borla Cat-Back Exhaust System

This 3" stainless steel system helps free up some of the backpressure of the restrictive stock exhaust. Combined with a gutted catalytic converter this mod really provided a good "seat of the pants" improvement.

NOS Nitrous Oxide System

This is a 150 horsepower nitrous system. See the Nitrous Oxide Information section for more details.

Air Flow Research LT4 Cylinder Heads

These are 195cc CNC ported aluminum cylinder heads with 3/4" deck (great for nitrous applications), 54cc chambers, 2.020" intake & 1.600" undercut valves. These heads flow much better than stock allowing me to take advantage of the higher RPM band of the CompCams Nitrous Extreme Camshaft.

CompCams Nitrous Extreme Camshaft

Click above to hear the cam (sorry about the low quality...better recording to come)!

Specs: Duration: 224/236 Lift: 521/556 (w/ 1.6rr) Lobe Sep: 114 - This cam really adds power both on & off the bottle. But because of the extra duration on the exhaust side, it really shines when on "The Squeeze"!! The 114 lobe separation smooths the idle down a bit as well, but it has a definite lope to it!

BBK/Edelbrock 58mm Throttle body

With the addition of the Heads, cam & headers the engine is able to move a lot more air. So the intake manifold has been ported by GTP to accept a 58mm throttle body. The stock 48mm throttle body would've been a definite restriction.

CompCams 1.6:1 Pro-Magnum roller rockers

These rocker arms really free up some horsepower in several ways. First by increasint the ratio from 1.5 to 1.6. Then by getting rid of a lot of the friction with the roller tip full roller fulcrum. I also had 7/16" studs put on the heads for a little better stability at higher RPM's. AFR guideplates & stock hardened pushrods are also used.

RK Sport Headers

All that extra air moving through the engine must be scavenged thoroughly. These Ceramic coated 1 3/4" headers from RK Sport really do the trick. An included Y-pipe helps reduce the restriction as well.

March Underdrive Pulley

This pulley lets you free up some horsepower by underdriving the accessories a little. I've also installed an alternator overdrive pulley to allow the alternator to keep the battery fully charged. The actual gains with this mod are minimal.

B&M Ripper

This is a short throw shifter that allows you to really bang through the gears & not ever worry about missing!

Hypertech Power Programmer Plus

The 1994 and newer Camaros have non-removable computer chips. So Hypertech develped the Power Programmer to re-tune the chip as it sits in the car! This unit works well with their 160 degree Powerstat, because we all know cooler means faster! This also allows you to calibrate the speedometer for a rear-end gear change and/or wheel/tire height change, and many more functions.

RK Sport White Face Gauge Overlay

These white faced gauge overlays are pretty trick. They really give the car a "racey" look. The installation is pretty involved, but worth it in my opinion. I also upgraded from a 115 mph speedometer to a 150 mph speedometer while I had the dash apart!

Future Mods

Well, the mod budget has been dwindled down for now, but with the addition of these mods I have a feeling I'll find a weak link (rear-end). So in the not-so-distant future a 12 bolt or F*rd 9" will have to be bolted in. Remember, the difference between men & boys is the price of their toys. Donations are gladly accepted! ;-)
