Model Identification
All 1960 through 1966 Chevrolet Series 10-30 trucks are identified by model designations consisting of a letter followed by four digits. The letter identifies the truck type, the first two digits designate the general GVW calssificaton, and the last two digits designate the body or chassis type. For example:
C 25 04
C = Truck type
25 = GVW Classification
04 = Body or Chassis type
Model Designation Suffixes
Series 30 models ordered with the optional 7800 lb GVW plate have a model designation ending in the letter "S". For example, C6203S
First numeral denotes GVW
1 - 5000 lb (exc PK10)
2 - 7500 lb (exc PK20)
3 - 10,000 lb
5 - 10,000 lb - 20,000 lb
6 - 15,000 lb - 24,000 lb (single axle) 24,000 lb - 30,000 lb (tandem axle)
8 - 18,500 lb - 32,000 lb (single axle) 30,000 lb - 45,000 lb (tandem axle)
C - Conventional cab model with gasoline engine
D & Q - Conventional cab model with diesel engine
A & E - Low-cab-forward (LCF) model with diesel engine
G - Chevy-Van panel model
K - 4-Wheel drive model
L - Low-cab-forward (LCF) model with gasoline engine
M - Conventional cab tandem model with gasoline engine
P - Step-Van or forward-control chassis
S - School bus chassis
T - Tilt cab model with gasoline engine
N, Y, & U - Tilt cab model with diesel engine
V & X - Conventional cab tandem model with diesel engine
W - Low-cab-forward (LCF) tandem model with diesel engine
2 - Chassis-cowl or school bus
3 - Chassis-cab
4 - Stepside pickup
5 - Panel
6 - Carryall (panel rear doors)
9 - Stake
12 - Windshield-cowl
16 - Carryall (tail & liftgate)
23 - Chassis-cab
34 - Fleetside pickup
35 - Forward-control van
42 - Forward-control chassis
