by motorcycle of course!!

a Kawasaki Concours to be more precise. we've got the bike, its ready to go. This pic was taken in front of work on my last day :-) I used a Sony digital camera that we have here. Its not the greatest quality, but i wanted to get some pics of our bike up before we left. Click on any picture for the full sized version.

Here are a few more pictures (with that same digital camera)...

Its basically a stock Concours. A '91 with 24k miles upon leaving, i bought it last December. You can see that the stock luggage rack and cover are gone. I have built a polycarbonate rack (thanks Larry!) that bolts in its place (over the stock rack, actually), but dont have it on the bike right now. I'm sure ill get a few shots of it during the trip though.
We've got a Corbin rumble seat that came with the bike when i bought it. Its in its down position now (sporty, eh...), but flips up for the passenger.
My throttle lock. I've not seen many like this one, and dont know who makes it as it came on the bike. It's pretty big and ugly, but works great. As many know (despite what the COGnoscent try to tell you) the Concours is quite a buzzy bike. A throttle lock is a must for me on any long trips. Yes, ive done all the de-buzzing mods (tune, sych, balancer, motor mounts etc), perhaps im just more sensitive than most, but it numbs my hands within an hour without the throttle lock.
Nifty fork protectors from NOJ. They are neoprene, attach with velcro and cost about $15. Well worth the protection they provide (extended fork seal life). Hidden inside the forks are Progressive springs and 15wt oil. The only performance mods done to the bike.
We plan on camping mostly, with an occasional motel stay to grab a shower, and do laundry.
With 2 of us on one bike, with all of our camping stuff, we obviously have to pack pretty light, but
I think we will be fine :-) i'm building a rack for the back to hold the tent/bags/pads, and we've got both saddlebags
and a tankbag to hold all our stuff. Janet is an experienced backpacker, and im pretty light travelling
anyway, so we'll be fine.
