Welcome to the Page of Roger's
94'Chevrolet
Camaro Z28 Convertible
Here's my Summer-Car : I bought it in October 1996 at a Swiss dealer for a great price. It only had 11'700 miles and was directly imported from Ft.Lauderdale, FL. During the last winters, the car got many mods and on the following pages I'd like to show you some of them.
The
Camaro is a hobby car and I love to work on it days and nights to
improve its performance.
Here are the mods I've put
on or made by myself till today :
Air
Intake modifications
Replacing the restrictive air filter box (even more restrictive for Europe !) with a K&N FIPK was my very first mod to the car. |
The BBK/Edelbrock 52mm Throttlebody is a very nice part ! It's absolutely great quality was fascinating me and I just "played" with it every day before I installed it. Installation was done within half an hour or even less. |
Exhaust modifications
Thanks to a great offering from "Internet Racers Supply" I was able to get the Borla adjustable exhaust for a good price. I installed it within 4 hours and did not had too much problems as I was able to use the neighbours lift. But the muffler and left tips are still not properly aligned. This will be fixed asap when the warm weather is comming back.
Right after the Cat-Back was done I replaced the rusty exhaust manifolds with MAC headers. Unfortunately the #2 pipe was not well aligned and I had a lot work till the passengers side was in. Also the coating is nothing worth ! I just wish I had them jet-hot or whatever coated. |
The passengers side shows the real colour of the headers and their design.
This is how the driver side looks today. You can also see the Taylor 8mm Spiro Pro wires I installed after removing the stock manifolds. This pic had some colour problems but I'll add one taken with the digital camera soon. |
Valve
train modifications
This is a close-up shot of the Comp Cams Magnum Pro 1.6 roller rocker and the Crane Cams spring (with dampener). Also the retainer, locks, guide plates and pushrods are from Comp Cams. Unfortunately the Crane springs do not sit properly on the stock seats so I have to replace them too. But this also causes in replacing the valve seals :( The job is almost done.
Another shot with the 1.6RR compared to the stock ones.
Uff...the drivers side is done ! Unfortunately the passengers side is much harder :( |
Some other modifications
As I wasn't very happy with the stock manual shifter I replaced it with the B&M Ripper shifter. A much better feeling and shorter shifts made this a good deal. |
The little
"scoopies" in the Camaro hood are not
functional. There are only small semi-grills with
semi-holes. My aim was to get more cold air into the
engines compartment and especially behind the engine and
intake manifold. |
|
To do this I opened the "scoopies" by drilling about 160 small holes on each grille and also slotted the backside where the grille was clipped in. The job was easy done and resulted in a max reducement of ~15°C (measured at the EGR pipe) when driving. Also the heat of the headers will now find a better way to get out ! |
Instead of the black stock valve covers I installed some nice chrome ones. I like them as they where only $37.99 (both) |
More is
comming soon !
