To make room for the 4.3 litre V6 I made the following mods...
Passenger side footwell massaged inward about 2 inches, this was done right below the rear of the header for clearance. No other mods were needed.
Drivers side required the footwell to be cut. The section where the gt pedal mounts was completely removed, then cut straight back towards the firewall. The side of the footwell next to the header was then pushed over about 3 inches and welded.
Steering rod will not clear header. I got a steering u-joint and rod from a Manta and added the u-joint to angle out slightly to clear the header.
Tranny fits just fine (currently a saginaw 4sp) used a Opel automatic tranny drive line (shortened). It has the same spline size as other gm transmissions. Used a hydaulic throwout bearing to eliminate clearance hastles...
