COMEDIAN JERRY SEINFELD TO SELL ONE OF HIS PRIZED PORSCHES FOR FIRST TIME AT CAR AUCTION

----------------------

Unique Opportunity to Own Seinfeld's Historical Porsche Speedster Racer at Barrett-Jackson Classic Car Auction

SCOTTSDALE, AZ -- Comedian Jerry Seinfeld has become the new kid on the "auction block". Seinfeld will sell his ivory 1954 Porsche 356 Speedster at the world-renowned Barrett-Jackson Classic Car Auction on January 16-19, 1997 at WestWorld in Scottsdale, Arizona. This marks the first time that Seinfeld has ever sold one of the vehicles in his collection.

"Seinfeld's Porsche Speedster would cost more than $100,000 to duplicate and is fully 'sorted-out' mechanically," said Seinfeld's automotive consultant Sam Cabiglio. "Unlike many restored vehicles, this car runs and drives beautifully in the real world and is a definite contender for top awards at the 1997 Porsche Parade in Texas."

"The car took several years to restore 'correctly' to mint condition, and drives, feels and looks brand new," adds Cabiglio. Since the restoration process was completed in 1994, the car has only been driven 698 miles.

The car, which was owned by American road racer Skip Hudson, raced and beat actor James Dean at Torrey Pines and Palm Springs in 1955. Legendary racer Dan Gurney raced the car that same year.

Other key features of this fanatical restoration include all original body panels with correct gaps, correct German canvas top, original type interior materials and five dated wheels. It also includes a total rebuild of all mechanical, electrical and chassis components with matching # engine and transmission (with Porsche factory documentation).

The Porsche is one of 17 owned by Seinfeld, who has been collecting Porsches since 1988. Along with the Porsche, Seinfeld will sell a 1977 Volkswagen Bug Sedan with 98 total miles (which had been in storage for 19 years), the last available VW Bug sedan sold in the U.S. market.

"There has been a growing trend of celebrities collecting classic cars," said Craig Jackson, managing partner of the Barrett-Jackson Auction Company. "We have worked with numerous celebrities over the years, including those who request anonymity, as we help them search for their dream car."

Comedians and cars seem to go together these days. Comedians and recognized automotive aficionados Jay Leno, Tim Allen, Craig T. Nelson and Phyllis Diller are often seen attending auctions, car shows and races.

The Barrett-Jackson Classic Car Auction is the world's leading collector car auction and has long acted as a leading barometer for trends in the collector car market. Offering approximately 900 of the finest and rarest motorcars, the auction attracts more than 80,000 spectators with roughly 1,200 participating as bidders.
