Ah, the Days When the 43 Was King!

Here are a few pictures from my extensive collection of Petty memorabilia. Some of the ones from the late 70s and early 80s were taken with a simple Kodak 110 instamatic camera. That should explain the "graininess" of the photos.

Ah, my FIRST NASCAR Winston Cup Grand National race -the 1978 Music City 420 at Nashville Speedway. All of 13 years old looking proud as a peacock standing beside the 43 car who finished 6th that May night. Cale Yarborough won the race by leading EVERY lap. But as can be determined by my stance, the King did the 43 Faithful proud in the 78 Magnum!

This is the Ford Torino Richard drove in 1969 when he drove a single season for FoMoCo. It now sits in the Richard Petty Museum in Level Cross, NC - right next to the shop. What Mecca is to Muslims, Level Cross is to Petty fans...

To the right of the Ford is the 74 Dodge Charger with which King had so much success. To the left of the Ford is what remains of the Pontiac Grand Prix from Richard's last race at the 1992 Hooter's 500 in Atlanta which had virtually no success...

A rare color picture of Kyle's first race car. Its the hand-me-down Dodge Magnum Kyle drove to victory in the 1979 ARCA 200 at Daytona. Funny how things have come full circle. Kyle started with #44 and now currently drives #44. I didn't take this picture. I think it was in Stock Car Racing magazine.
