Music in
general:
I enjoy music a lot, and have played professionally on the road
for three years whilst I studied for my diploma in Music at Whitiriea
Community Polytechnic in Porirua. Being active in the Music industry
can be a fun and rewarding lifestyle. I spent a small amount of
time working a roadcrew for a few big concerts here and have worked
on site for Joe Satriani, The Stranglers, Dave Dobbyn, Shihad, the
Exponents, Crowded House and many more large acts.
Whist studying at Whitiriea I spent most Christmas's playing cabaret
gigs which meant less travel and more work, some of the time we
would end up playing with guest artists. I have played in the cabaret
scene with Dalvanius Prime & Bunny Walters with was a good way
to cut my teeth as a young bassist.

Pantera
(www.pantera.com)
Pantera have been around since the days of glam metal. Through
the years they have matured into a contemporary rock icon. They
have more than etched their mark, my favourite album is Vulgar
display followed closely by Cowboys from Hell. |
MP3:
Normally I would only download an MP3 to see whether I like the artists
new music to see if I would buy the album, and then trash the MP3
altogether. I believe that information should be freely available
on the internet, however disagree that piracy is acceptable just because
we have no legislation for this type of theft. I agree fully as a
musician in the cause for which Metallica stand in that the artist
should be paid for their work.
Now that you know this, these are my favourite MP3 sites-

Bass Guitar:
I have been playing Bass guitar since I was 17. Unlike many I chose
Bass Guitar as my prefferred instrument. I had the misfortune to
break my leg skating vert ramp on a 10 foot vert skate ramp at Vautier
Park in Palmerston North. Since I was laid up I took the time to
learn a musical instrument. To start with I had a guitar with the
treble strings ripped off, and just played the bass ones. I convinced
mum I needed a Bass, so we went shopping and bought a 1963 Fender
Jazz replica, and a Hal Leonard book. The madness started from there!
Today I spend very little time playing but use my skills when called
on to to studio work, and fill in for bands required someone who
can play and read music well.
Type of music:
I love all kinds of music, and sometimes the songs I listen to the
most are the songs I don't want to hear. My favourite music changes
with my mood or energy level. I prefer metal and aggressive edged
music. Iron Maiden was my first hardcore band next to ACDC, and
then came Metalica, Megadeth, Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Rage Against
the Machine. It's all hard out and it's all art. Rock on!
