Millard Wells 1999 Great Florida Keys ROWby G. Nunez
In the idillic setting of Plantation Key Jurgen shows the beautiful watercolor by Millard Wells , the award for first place and the neat Piaggio-Pegna Schneider prototype. Despite balance problems he kept on flying and accumulated enough points to win over Jorge Nunez sr by one point, who fly a very realistic Ryan ST.
Jurgen Kortenbach of Canada was there with a rare Piaggio-Pegna on hydrofoils cut from foam plates. It would skim along the surface for a few feet and lift-off quite amazingly. He too had cg problems, as the plane soaked up water, it got progressively tail heavy.

George Nunez jr launching the Gipsy Moth. After a few flights the plane would not take off but I did not discover the reason until the meet was almost over. A waterlogged nose made it nose heavy, some clay on the tail was all that was needed. Flying right, againt the torque, made for very straight, realistic take-off runs, rather than the arcs it used to make when flying left.

Power is now two loops of 1/4, but it seems a bit overpowered.

Doc Martin, fearless leader of the MIAMA Club gets a flight from his Dornier Komet. Wind had picked up by now as can be seen by the ripples, this made flying the smaller models more difficult.
Unsuccesful attempt by Sal G. while still trimming his Herr Helio Courier. Additional right thrust fixed it and he got a good flight in just before the meet ended.
The Turbo Beaver of Rich MacEntee, excellent worksmanship and very lightly built. Too light a model has problems when the wind picks up, in my opinion, and are more prone to damage. Unfortunately this model ended in some trees.
