THE COBRA STORY

SVT (Special Vehicle Team) built the 1993 cobra as a fond farewell to the Mustang body style we had all grown to love. They wanted to make a car that out performed all other mustangs from the past. They did this by adding new cylinder heads (Gt-40's), better breathing upper and lower intakes (Cobra upper, GT-40 lower), a large-bore throttle body (65 mm), and an air meter assembly with a higher flow rate (70 mm).

The valvetrain was also updated with special Crane roller rocker arms (1.7 ratio) that increased valve lift in conjunction with a new camshaft.

The driveline was updated as well with a new clutch assembly to handle the extra torque, along with a heave duty 5 speed transmission with close ratio gearing. The transmission has phosphate-coated gears and improved bearings for further strength.

The suspension was updated with 17x7.5 inch wheels wearing 245-45-zr17 tires, lower rate springs, smaller anti-roll bar in the front, along with higher rate bushings in the upper rear contol arms. The result is a precise and well handling vehicle.

Four wheel vented disc brakes with 10.84 inch disc's in front and 10.07 inch disc's in the back were added for great stopping power.

The end result of these modifications is a vehicle that can go 0-60 in 5.7 seconds, and have a top speed of 140 mph.
