Veronica Pedrosa

Veronica Pedrosa has been with the BBC for the past year. She is a news presenter on BBC World, where she presents news bulletins and feature programmes including The Week Reporters and Asia Today. Prior to that she was a news anchor for CNN, based in Atlanta for three years, presenting news bulletins during prime time in East Asia. Veronica began her career in journalism in Manila as a television reporter, presenter and producer for the national network ABS-CBN, she also reported freelance for print and radio outlets, such as The Times and National Public Radio. Over the past eight years, Veronica has covered the negotiations over US bases, typhoons, earthquakes and volcanic eruptions in the Philippines. She presented breaking news broadcast around the world and interviewed many newsmakers including Aung San Suu Kyi, US special envoy Richard Holbrooke and New Zealand PM Jim Bolger. Veronica grew up in London after her family was exiled from The Philippines because her mother, Carmen, wrote an unofficial biography of Imelda Marcos. The family could only return in safety once President Marcos was deposed. She was educated at St Paul's Girls School in London and Newham College, Cambridge. Veronica is married to CNN cameraman, Mark Phillips.
