Heraldic Tier Cakes


This set of 3 cakes (displayed on a floating tier cake stand) was baked for a dessert revel at the Middle Kingdom Arts and Sciences Competition, hosted by the Shire of Cynnabar in May of 1997. They bear the heraldic arms of (from bottom to top) the entire SCA, the Middle Kingdom, and the Shire of Cynnabar. The SCA and Cynnabar cakes were eaten at the revel, and the one with the Midrealm arms was presented to the Royalty at head table during feast at Crown Tourney the following evening. Decorating was all done in buttercream icing. The top two cakes are shown in more detail below.
