Microbiology Retirement Cake

June, 1996
This cake was decorated for a party celebrating the retirement of 3 people from a hospital Microbiology Lab. The letters in Good Bye are spelled out using a microscope for the G, streaked agar plates for Os, and an immunoflourescent slide for part of the B. One of the folks retiring was a fungus specialist, so I mixed penicillium and sporothrix (which causes rose handlers disease) into the floral spray. She was also going to be spending more time teaching dog obedience classes, which is why there's a puppy hanging onto the Y. The cake was well recieved, and the fungus specialist was able to identify the fungi and got the pun.
