STEPHEN WENTWORTH TAVERN OR THE "WOLFE TAVERN"
You are driving down Route 125 and you see a sign on the side of the road that displays WOLFE INN and a picture of the red haired General Wolfe. What does that sign mean.........

That is the location of the first inn in Rochester. It went by the name of
STEPHEN WENTWORTH TAVERN or WOLFE TAVERN. The inn was a one story building that started doing business in the 1760's. It was a very popular place and lots of political activity occurred in the inn. During the Revolutionary War this inn was a recruiting station for the good guys (the U.S.A.)
