| This website was started when I discovered that the history of Rochester wasn't anywhere to be found on the world wide web. The city's history extends back to the early 1600's when Rochester was considered frontier country. Living back then meant battling the elements as well as hostile Indians. The past also includes the shame of slavery existing in the town, as well as generations of young men bravely marching off to war to defend their country. Over the next few years I would like to develop these pages into a historical archive of the city; check back every so often as new information will be added. The stories and information from the past are very entertaining and I hope you enjoy them as much I enjoyed researching them. |
