VARIETIES

GALA; there are several different "sports" of the Gala apple variety. Mostly the trend is to find a more coloring Gala apple. The fruit is juicy, crunchy, and sprightly. Though not usually a large apple, it has a fresh flavor of it's own.

GINGER GOLD; this yellow apple has more flavor than the Golden Delicious; keeps better and is a fairly large apple. More sprightly than Golden, it's flavor is a definate winner.

ARLET (Swiss Gourmet);originating from Switzerland, this apple is a lot like a Galla in terms of flavor and texture. It is a bit bigger, and with a little more snap. Great eating apple!

HONEYCRISP; explosively crisp! This apple, bred by the University of Minnesota, is a very juicy, crisp apple, and more sprightly than the Gala, which means you can use it as an eating apple, and for sauces and pies, as well!

SANSA; this apple is smaller and ealier in maturity of ripness than the Gala. But has great sugar/acid balance. It's a seedling cross from Gala, in parentage. Developed in New Zealand, like the Gala.

TSUGARU (pronounced: Ta-SU-Ga-Roo); a Japanese bi-color apple. Very sweet and tender skinned. Little acid makes this one a definite dessert apple. Japan's #2 apple eating variety. Have been told they eat like candy!

SENSHU; this apple is a Japanese bred offspring with Fuji, as a parent. It is not like Fuji; sweet, crisp, but with it's own distinguishing character. Mostly red, but will not be "RED RED", like other apples.

FUJI; the #1 apple of Japan! Growing in popularity here as a great dessert apple. Keeps well; crisp, juicy, low acid, tender skin, and mild apple flavor. Cosmetically, it is not as pretty as some of the others. Don't let looks fool you, this one is excellent!

GOLDEN SUPREME; this yellow apple is ealier to ripen then Golden Delicious. But is very similiar in characteristics. It is clean, juicy, and crisp. Also, the flavor is very good. Doesn't "skin-shrivel" like the Golden Delicious. Makes a good eating, sauce and pie apple.

CAMEO; an apple that has good striping, very flavorful, and extra crunchy in texture. A great eating apple, as well as for sauces and pies. It keeps excellently! Months after picking, this apple will still be crisp and firm.

RED DELICIOUS; we have a few trees of this early ripening clone of Red Delicious. Fruit is typical of Red Delicious, but colors up nicely here in Western Nebraska.

MACINTOSH; the pie and sauce apple with no match. Some people love to eat them out of the hand, like a dessert apple, but either way we grow a very red sport of this old time favorite.
