Visiting with Wade backstage

For those of you who have never seen him in concert, Wade puts on a great show. To start the day off, we drove 7 hours to see him in southern Oregon. He had two shows that day, and it was the closest that he was getting to us, so we figured why not. We got to the show early, and got to go in and watch the band do their sound check and get ready for the show. It's a blast to watch them play when it is just the guys. They tease each other and act like a real family. The shows were wonderful. He played all of his hit songs (Old Enough to Know Better, On a Good Night, What I Meant to Sayjust to name a few) and also the songs that people usually request during his shows (Milk Cow Blues & Ida Red). In between the shows, we got to go backstage to talk to him. We had already met him at fan fair last year, and he was impressed that we drove so far just to hear him play. He is a very nice person, who hasn't let stardom go to his head. He treated every person that went backstage like they really meant a lot to him. I hope that aspect of his personality never changes. The crowd for the second show was more enthusiastic than the first crowd. There were people dancing in the balcony and fans throwing things onstage for him. The show was just as good, if not better than the first. It looked like they were really having fun on stage. I got to go backstage after that show too. I wasn't supposed to because I had been back with my mom after the first show, but Wade's manager let me because all the other fan club members had also gone back after the first show, so there wasn't anyone else waiting. It was a wonderful concert, and we got some cool pictures with Wade, and lots of stuff autographed. I hope he can get a booking a little closer to home next time, but even if he doesn't, I'll still travel to go listen to him. I mean hey...I'm going all the way to Nashville for fan fair so what's a little driving?
