Yamah W5

1. The MIDI Log Jam (where all lights on the MIDI Time Piece are lit solid) - On Power up the
Yamaha W5 defaults to a setting that can cause a MIDI feedback loop (where MIDI data is
transmitted from the W5, to the MIDI Time Piece, to the computer, back to the MTP, back to the
W5 to cycle back through again and again) creating a feedback loop and a communication problem
between the different pieces of gear and the computer.  The best way to avoid this problem is to send
the MIDI Lab Patches '98 Galaxy bundle (from the Apple Menu-->Patches folder).  You can stop the
feedback loop manually by going to Song mode then to Setup and turning MIDI control=Off,
Sync=MIDI.  This stops the feedback loop just as well but doesn't initialize your voice bank.

2. Effects for the Yamaha W5 - The W5 has 3 effect sends and 3 insert effects.  The effect
sends 1,2 and 3 (at the top of the song page) can be applied to 16 MIDI channels all at the same
time.  The 3 insert effects (represented by a dark square above the pan control on the song page)
can only be used by 3 MIDI channels at any 1 time.  Certain voices default to using the insert effects.
Where your patch changes occur in your sequence can determine which voices will "steal" the
insert effect away from another voice.
