Malta Song Festival Fundraising (1993)

In March 1993, the song 'Karnival ta' Mhabba' written by the club founders, Albert Marshall and Vince Pulo was selected as a finalist in the Malta Song Festival. This was the first time that a song written by Maltese living overseas qualified for the final stages of this prestigious festival.

Harmonic 65 organised a series of fundraising concerts and raised sufficient funds to fly Vince, Albert and singer Dorothy Zammit to Malta and participate in this festival.

During their stay, this team left an excellent image of the standard of the Maltese Australian talent to such an extent that Albert Marshall was invited to take a theatrical company and perform in one of the premier theatres of Malta. This offer had to be declined due to insufficient funds.

International Concert 23/2/96

Harmonic 65 Culture Club were invited by Rotary International to participate in an International concert at the Victoria University together with five other communities. The concert included the famous Chinese Tenor William Xwing. Singers Vic Smith, Joan Drago and the Young Maltese Australian Dancers formed the Maltese contingent for this concert.

Christmas Events

Harmonic 65 has organised Christmas church services for the Maltese community that have been appreciated and highly acclaimed by all participants for the high calibre of organisation. Another important event around this time of the year is the visit by our musicians and singers to old peoples' homes to spread cheer with various Christmas carols and songs. The reward for all these events is the warm reception and wonderful comments given by the audiences.

Malta Dockyard Tragedy Fundraising

The club organised a dinner dance to raise funds for the families affected by the tragic accident that occurred in the Malta Dockyards in Feb 95' in which nine workers died. The club raised $4,400 which were sent to the families of the deceased.
