Hot News For The Week

(in other words what went wrong this week)

p>Well, it has been a while!! Finally got the old computer set up and running and since it's been almost 6 months since I messed with the site I figured it was time!!!!!!

The job hunt after retiring went from joy to grief in one day. I got a job almost immediately making 12 bucks an hour doing testing on Bradley Fighting Vehicles out at Fort Hood but on the last day of training the Army cancelled the test due to some software problem and I was unemployed again. Finally I got a call to go to work at Motorola down in Austin and hopefully this will be permanent. I'll be making silicon chips in a clean room. I almost busted out laughing when the interviewer asked if I ad any problem working around hazardous chemicals or wearing a face mask and working 12 hour shifts. Man, if they only knew!!! The jobs not bad, I work Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday along with every other Saturday. I should get 84 hours every 2 weeks and maybe some overtime. It only pays about 10 bucks an hour to start but I'm hoping that I'll get a raise soon after I start. The only drag is it's a 65 mile commute for me, one way. The job security is there and so is the bucks after the 90 day probationary period.

Gena got a job with the Round Rock Parks and Recreation Department and she'll be making 8 bucks an hour. Now that's job security there. Her commute is a little shorter but both of those commutes will be a little shorter (20 miles) when we finally get our place set up.

Speaking of our place we have decided on a manufactured home (read trailer house). Don't get too happy with the redneck jokes just yet. The place we are looking at is 32 feet wide and 76 feet long. With 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, Family Room, Living Room, BIG kitchen, and a dining room. It also has a 10 X 16 covered porch and a 10 X 16 room adjacent to the Master Bedroom. So in effect we have a Master Suite
