About Upsala
Upsala(up-say-la) is a string band that includes banjo, mandolin, fiddle,
guitar and acoustic bass. We are a group of friends that have independently
played music for over 100 years cumulatively. We decided to gather
together and create the group in 1996. The name comes from a community
of Swedish immigrants dating from early in this century. Andy and Kristi
currently live where the settlement of "Upsala" used to be. J. U.'s grandmother
was an immigrant whose parents settled in Upsala.

Our particular brand of music has strong ties to Old Time Music, Florida
Folk, Bluegrass, and many other styles. While we are tied to tradition,
this group is determined to be original. It isn't really a matter of
choice , our personalities, both individually and as a group seem to take
us in that direction. What can we do but follow along?
