My Review:

Here is my review of the concert Amy and Vince did with the Boston Pops last night!!

First off the Pops where really good, and I thought the Nashville orchestra was good last year!! The Pops is INSANE! Wow they are so good and when they play the music is so powerful I was in awe!!

On the program it listed 2 intermissions and Amy and Vince between them. Also in the program was a Very well done about page Bio for both Amy and Vince telling there accomplishments and charities etc... Well when I first saw they where listed between 2 intermissions I was like man does that mean they are just going to sing during the intermission and not with the Pops? But luckily my fears where unfounded!! First up was Amy! Keith Lockhart the Conductor Introduced her. He said Our next two guests have sold a combined almost 50 million albums and we are honored to have them. Up first is someone I went to college with Amy Grant. Then he said he went to college with Amy longer ago then they both wanted to admit! Then out came Amy from the shadows with a Giant smile on her face looking as good as ever wearing a Brown fur coat with her hair up. Well she started right in singing "Its the Most Wonderful Time of the Year" She sounded just like she does on CD and the Pops sounded amazing!! I forgot to say the acoustics in the Symphony hall where AMAZING! It said in the program that they consider the Symphony halls acoustics to be another instrument it is so good! And after I heard Amy I agreed even more!! I have never heard Amy sound so clear Live. Sometimes the acoustics in some places make it hard to hear her over the music but here her voice soared over the music and you could hear everything she performed. This was my third time seeing Amy and it was by FAR the best I was able to hear her and the best she sounded because of the acoustics!

She took of her coat saying it was far hotter in there then she thought. She then had on a Sleeveless sparkling Silver Dress. And she looked great!! She then said this next one is an original song she wrote with Chris Eaton! She then did her setting up the story thing that she does at concerts before singing this song. Just read the Breath of Heaven book that is basically what she said!! The crowd loved the song! I could hear people in front of me whispering that the song was gorgeous. The Pops also sounded amazing during this one.

Amy said she had fun looking out the window at the snow from their hotel room overlooking the city. And that they ate at a nice restaurant on Wed night. Then it sounded like she was going to do TN Christmas because she kept talking about TN but instead it was I think Winter Wonderland. She sounded great as always and the Pops added some cool sounds to it!

At this point near the end of the song I saw Vince emerge from the door to the right where I could see. He had a huge smile on his face as he watched Amy sing! Then Amy finished and the crowd cheered and she walked over to wear Vince was and left.

Ok then Vince came on stage and jumped right into I think it was One Bright Star. I am not sure though because I did not know the name of the song so could not write it down! I listened to my Vince CD before writing this to try and remember and I think it is this song. If I remember for sure later I will edit this! Anyways whatever the song was it sounded great lol!! Vince also was in top form!!

After the song Vince said he grew up listening to a Christmas album with Chet Atkins live with the Boston Pops and to be at the Pops singing was like a dream for him! he then said I am going to do a little Sinatra for this next song. I need a Martini and a cigarette. Then he said they called them the rat pack but they call me and my friends the Fat Pack. Of course this made the crowd laugh! He was hilarious! He then performed Sleigh Ride! And did a few little shakes at the start like Sinatra or something!! It was a very lively version and before the song he also said ballads are great but I want to wake you guys up. And the Pops played a very rockin and cool version of Sleigh Ride!

After this song Vince was like yea I see a lot of you guys out there with your arms crossed while you watch me. He was like I have been getting that alot since I married Amy and yes I realize I married above me!! Then the crowd laughed! But the he said I cant believe she wore my fur coat tonight! And the crowd laughed even more!! It was so funny! Then he sang the Christmas Song. And it was great like all of Amy and Vinces song where!!

Then Keith Lockhart shook Vinces hand and gestured to the crowd that he was leaving and they all cheered. I was sad though thinking they where done already! But then he walked backstage took Amys hand and they both came back out!! The crowd was all excited that they where not done yet! Then they sang a Duet of Silver Bells!! It was a beautiful duet and Amy and Vince like always sound great together!!

Then for the next and last song Amy and Vince did Home for Christmas. Before the song Amy said something to the effect that this year in particular we will be glad to be home For Christmas. She said having found love later in life she treasured every Christmas alot more. Then they both did a duet of Home for Christmas and where touchy feely if you get my drift LOL! Ok then Keith Lockhart said Thanks and the crowd gave Amy and Vince a big hand!! And as they where leaving Vince said Thanks everyone have a great Christmas.

Ok so the Setlist was:

Most Wonderful Time of the year-Amy

Breath of Heaven-Amy

Winter Wonderland-Amy

One Bright Star(??)- Vince

Sleigh Ride-Vince

Christmas Song-Vince

Silver Bells-Duet

Home for Christmas-Duet

i think that was the full setlist. I remember at one point I forgot to write some of the songs down so had to write them when I got home! But I am pretty sure this is the correct order and songs they performed. Alot more songs then I thought they would do!! In all there portion of the concert was probably a half hour to 45 minutes or so! I had a great time and I am so glad I went!!

1. "Age to Age": Rating: 5
Favorite songs: "El Shaddi", "Sing Your Praise to the Lord", "Don't Run Away"

--
This is one of Amy's best Early Albums that has a variety of now classic songs. It is in my opinion one of the Best Christian music cds ever and features such songs as "El Shaddi" and the classic Rich Mullins Penned song "Sing your Praise to the Lord".

2. "Unguarded": Rating: 4
Favorite songs: "Find a Way","Everywhere I Go", "the Prodigal"

--
This is classic 80's music at its best. It is easily Amy's most fast paced album with fast uplifting songs coming one after the other. It is also considered to be Amy's first "crossover" album, as the brilliant song "Find a Way" played on some Mainstream outlets at the time.

3. "Straight Ahead": Rating: 5
Favorite Songs: "Doubly Good", "Straight Ahead", "Thy Word"

--
This album is another classic with plenty of uplifting CCM songs. In fact the song "Thy Word" is practically a church regular now and this is where it originated.

4. "The Collection": Rating: 5
Favorite Songs: "Stay For Awhile", "Love Can do", "I Wanna Fly"

--
A Great album for the first time Amy fan to go back to and start his/her collection. It has all the old classics like "Sing your praise to the Lord", "Everywhere I go" etc... But as an added bonus it has songs that were not on other albums like my favorite Amy Grant song of all "Stay for Awhile".

5. "Lead me on": Rating: 5
Favorite Songs: "Lead me On", "All Right", "Saved by Love"

--
This is one of Amy's Finest efforts, in fact it is so good that CCM Magazine rated it the number 1 Christian music cd in the past 20 years!!!!!!!!!!! Amy is very honest in it and tackles such hard subjects as looking at one's inner thoughts that only they know on "Shadows", and unfaithfulness in "Faithless Heart".

6. "Heart in Motion": Rating: 5
Favorite songs: "Baby Baby", "Ask Me", "That's What Love is For"

--
This was the album that launched Amy's career into the stratosphere. Her now famous "Baby Baby" made it all the way to number one on the Mainstream Charts and Amy has sold around 5 million copies of this album. This is the album where she supposedly officially "crossed over", to the mainstream, but with songs like, "Ask Me" and "Hope Set High" it is clear that Amy, was successful in not only expanding her career but bringing God's word to the masses in a non-threatening way.

7. "House of Love": Rating:4
Favorite Songs: "Big yellow Taxi", "Oh how the years go by"

--
This is Amy's follow-up to her "heart in motion" cd. While it is far from my favorite Amy Cd, it is the one that got me back into Amy's music after years of not listening to her so for that I think it is pretty good. Most of the songs are extremely "bubbly" and it is Pop/dance music at its best.

8. "Behind The Eyes": Rating: 5
Favorite Songs: "Turn this World Around", "Missing you", "Cry a River", "Somewhere Down the Road"

--
This is easily Amy's most personal cd yet. Those looking for a "Bubble Gum" pop cd like HIM and HOL will want to look elsewhere becuase this is not it. This CD lets the listener almost go into Amy's mind and see what she was thinking of. In Songs like "Cry a River" She sings of a lost love she will never have. And in "The Feeling I Have" she relates how "...Words are cheap and sometimes cruel, and stuff you hear is seldom true..." and also talks about walking away from all the "buzz" of being famous. But she always leaves hope to her listener in songs like "Turn This World Around", "Takes a Little Time", and, "Somewhere Down the Road", where Amy asks "Why, Why, Why" is there so many unanswered questions in this world, and finally says we will find out why "at the End of The Road"
